Safeguarding vulnerable adults level 2 course (QCF)

Level 2 Safeguarding for Vulnerable Adults - 1 day accredited training, designed for people and staff working in the position of a nurse or carer looking afer and providing care to vulnerable adults, as well as being aimed at those working in a wide range of settings.

This unit introduces the important area of safeguarding individuals from abuse. It identifies different types of abuse and the signs and symptoms that might indicate abuse is occurring. It considers when individuals might be particularly vulnerable to abuse and what a learner must do if abuse is suspected or alleged.

COURSE INFORMATION**

  • How long will the course take?
    • 1/2 day, maximum 4-6 hours
  • How is the course assessed?
    • This qualification is assessed through prior learning as well as a multiple choice test comprising of 13 questions where, a minimum of 10 correct answers is deemed as a PASS. The duration of the examination is 1 hour. Successful learners can use their experience as prior learning in order to meet the guiding learning hours, where learners that are new to the field will have to demostrate that they have studied the assignment by successfully completing a multiple choice test which all learners will receive upon enrolling on the course.

  • What next?
    • Your tutor will assess your completed homework and assessment pack and give feedback with regards to thelearner's success. The awarding body, AOFA will provide us with the certificate for successful learners within 1 week from assessment.Certificates will be dispatched for distribution by Lakwera Services posted 1st class to be signed for.

  • What will you study?

1. Know the principles of safeguarding within a health and social care context.

1.1 State the principles of safeguarding vulnerable adults 
1.2 Define the terms “abuse” and ‘significant harm’
1.3 List the risk factors which may contribute to abuse
1.4 State the role of the Disclosure and Barring Service.

2. Know the different types of abuse and the possible indicators of abuse.

2.1 List the different categories of abuse with the possible indicators of abuse

3.1 List the responsibilities of an employee in reporting suspected abuse 

3.2 Define the term ‘whistle blowing’
3.3 State the actions to be taken in the event of a disclosure made to a staff member

*There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Our awarding body, advises learners have a Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or both.
