HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE COURSES: Infection Control, Health and Safety in Health and Social Care, Safeguarding for Vulnerable Adults

Lakwera Services has now developed a new training course inclusive of certain measures to prevent and control the new Corona Virus causing COVID-19, following the guidance from the Departement of Health.

This fully accredited qualification is designed to support current or new staff who work in health and care settings such as care homes, health centres, surgeries and childcare settings and gives them underpinning knowledge of how to prevent and control the spread of infection caused either by bacteria or viruses.

Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health and Care Settings (RQF):

Topics covered

Learners gaining this qualification will understand common infections and the chain of infection, the importance of correct hand washing procedures, the principles of personal protective equipment, the decontamination process, waste management procedures and roles and responsibilities in preventing infection.

Infection Control and Prevention Level 2
  • How long will it take?

The total qualification time for this qualification is 7 hours, all of which are recommended as guided learning hours.

  • Entry requirements

To register for this qualification, learners must be at least 16 years of age and have a minimum of Intermediate Level in English.

  • Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by a 25-question multiple-choice test which will be externally marked by our awarding body, Highfield. Successful learners must achieve a minimum pass mark of 17 correct answers (68%). The examination is graded as pass or fail. At the moment we will be able to issue e-certificates until further notice. This qualification is accredited and approved in line with the Public Health England and Ofqual.

2. Understand the importance of correct hand washing procedures for infection prevention and control
3. Understand the principles of personal protective equipment (PPE) used in infection prevention and control 
4. Understand the decontamination process 
5. Understand waste management procedures and the associated risks
6. Understand the roles and responsibilities in preventing infection

Level 2 Award in Health and Safety within Health and Social Care Settings (RQF)

The accredited qualification provides learners with: an understanding of the roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare; an understanding of the process of risk assessment and how they improve health and safety at work; knowledge of procedures for responding to accidents, near misses and ill-health and knowledge of how to control the risks of infection.

Health and Safety in Health and Social Care Level 2
  • How long will it take?

The total qualification time for this qualification is 7 hours, all of which are recommended as guided learning hours.

  • Entry requirements

To register for this qualification, learners must be at least 16 years of age and have a minimum of Intermediate Level in English.

  • Assessment method

The examination for this qualification contains 20 questions that must be completed within 45 minutes. Successful learners will have to demonstrate knowledge and understanding across the qualification syllabus and achieve a minimum pass mark of 60%.
Results will then be provided within 2 weeks and at the moment we will be able to issue e-certificates until further notice. This qualification is accredited and approved in line with the Public Health England and Ofqual.

2. Understand the process of risk assessment
3. Understand how risk assessments improve health and safety in health and social care
4. Know the procedures for responding to accidents, near misses and ill-health in health and social care 
5. Know how to control the risk of infection in health and social care 
6. Describe employer’s duties relating to health, safety and welfare at work
7. Describe employee’s duties relating to health, safety and welfare at work
8. Outline tasks that should not be carried out without additional training
9. Outline the benefits of good health and safety in the workplace
10. Describe the steps involved in a risk assessment
11. Explain the common causes of workplace accidents, near misses and ill health in health and
social care settings

 

Safeguarding vulnerable adults level 2 course

Level 2 Safeguarding for Vulnerable Adults - 1 day accredited training, designed for people and staff working in the position of a nurse or carer looking afer and providing care to vulnerable adults, as well as being aimed at those working in a wide range of settings.

This unit introduces the important area of safeguarding individuals from abuse. It identifies different types of abuse and the signs and symptoms that might indicate abuse is occurring. It considers when individuals might be particularly vulnerable to abuse and what a learner must do if abuse is suspected or alleged.

Safeguarding vulnerable adults level 2 course
  • How long will the course take?

1/2 day, maximum 4-6 hours

  • How is the course assessed?

This qualification is assessed through prior learning as well as a multiple choice test comprising of 13 questions where, a minimum of 10 correct answers is deemed as a PASS. The duration of the examination is 1 hour. Successful learners can use their experience as prior learning in order to meet the guiding learning hours, where learners that are new to the field will have to demostrate that they have studied the assignment by successfully completing a multiple choice test which all learners will receive upon enrolling on the course.

  • What next?

Your tutor will assess your completed homework and assessment pack and give feedback with regards to thelearner's success. The awarding body will provide us with the certificate for successful learners within 1 week from assessment.Certificates will be dispatched for distribution by Lakwera Services posted 1st class to be signed for.
