Manual Handling injuries are the cause of most lost working days in the UK, with sprains and strains due to the incorrect lifting and moving of objects causing most suffering to employees.

The Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling is intended as an introduction to moving

and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific

training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher

training.

Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be

carried out correctly and will recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and subsequent Regulations require that employees are provided with information and training and this general requirement should be supplemented with specific training and information on manual handling.

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations do not set any weight limits for lifting and carrying loads and amendments in 2002 clearly now require employees to have adequate or appropriate knowledge or training. The Regulations will apply to nearly all work activities from offices to care homes and factories. There will be different risks associated with different sectors and the HABC Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling offers learning outcomes which are suitable for all.

Learners must also practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques as indicated within the learning outcomes of the unit.

Health and Safety Qualifications

With the constant changes within health and safety legislation, it has never been more important to ensure compliance in this field. Contravening this legislation can result in prosecution (with the possibility of an unlimited fine or even imprisonment).

All employers are required to have the correct systems in place to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for employees and any other people who may be affected by their business activities. Through achievement of one of our Health and Safety qualifications employees will develop the right knowledge and attitude to contribute to an organisation remaining compliant.

Our Health and Safety qualifications are suitable for both the public and private sectors.

Legal Compliance

The suite of Health and Safety qualifications has been created to assist your business in complying with legal requirements by demonstrating that your staff members have been trained in preventative approaches to hazards and promoting a positive health and safety culture. They are also designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own responsibilities and how they contribute to the effective maintenance of health and safety policies.
